the word order in an English sentence is different from the Dutch.
time always comes or at the beginning or at the end of the sentence. Place for time:

last night  thom was in Rotterdam                    gisteravond was tom in Rotterdam.

Tom was in Rotterdam last night.                     tom was in Rotterdam gisteravond.

adverbs of time include often/sometimes/never/normally alway 's//usually/often they give to how often something happened.

they stand for the main word:

we NEVER listen to him.                                                             wij luisteren nooit naar hem.

i NORMALLY have my dinner in front of the tv                          ik eet mijn avondeten normaal gesproken voor de tv.

or they stand behind a form of to be

Leslie is ALWAYS tired                                           leslie is altijd moe.

we are USUALLY late                                             we zijn meestal te laat.
